Got sore muscles? I did… but now I’m better!

aromatouch

This is one of my favorite blends, as it’s used for massage and general relaxation. It also works great for sore muscles. I slipped in the bathroom yesterday and injured my hamstring, and it hurt like you know what. I have been massaging AromaTouch oil and a few others on my thigh, and it feels about 80% better, after just 1 day.

Also, the scent is outdoorsy, not flowery, making it easy to use on men as well.

I love this stuff, and I love that I had this oil on hand, so I could start self-treating my leg right away. Once you learn about the power of the oils, you’ll never want to be without them.

Top 10 Essential Oils for Entrepreneurs

oils-for-entrepreneurs

Being self-employed is a tough but rewarding gig, and anything that makes it easier to be present, focused, healthy and productive, I’m all over it. I’ve been successfully self-employed for over 20 years, and I love the benefits I get from using the oils. I’ve used dōTERRA oils for almost 4 years, and they are part of my daily routine. Not sure what I did before discovering these gems…

Here’s my top oil picks, and how they can help you and your team at work:

Frankincense: This is my number 1 go to oil for just about everything, as it’s great for brain balance, focus, sad feelings, inflammation, immune system and cellular health, wound repair, letting go of negative vibrations, and helps you see the ‘truth’ in life.

OnGuard (Protective blend): Great for boosting your immune system, has anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties, kills germs, kills airborne pathogens when diffused, reduces symptoms and duration of seasonal bugs, keeps you and your staff healthier with less days out of the office. This is a blend of Cinnamon, Clove, Eucalyptus, Rosemary and Wild Orange oils, warm, spicy and very powerful.

InTune (Focus blend): Helps keep you focused on the task at hand, increased concentration and attention to detail, mental clarity, reduces stress and alleviates nervous and anxious feelings. This blend includes Frankincense, Lime, Patchouli, Roman Chamomile, Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang.

Peppermint: Gives an instant energy lift, is cooling, helps relieve occasional headaches and pain, digestive relief, creates emotional distance during heated discussions, and helps with bad breath.

DigestZen: As the name implies, it’s used for digestive relief, gas, bloating, nausea, motion sickness during travel, sinus issues, emotional indigestion, and helps when you’ve ‘taken on too much’. This is a blend of Anise, Caraway, Coriander, Fennel, Ginger, Peppermint and Tarragon oils.

Balance (Grounding blend): Helps you feel balanced, calm, centered and grounded, balances energy, dispels anger and rage, stress and anxiety relief. I use this every day, a drop on the bottoms of my feet, helps me stay grounded and focused. This blend includes Blue Chamomile, Blue Tansy, Frankincense, Ho Wood and Spruce. Very woodsy smelling.

Citrus Bliss (Invigorating blend): Do you have an office full of grumpy, whiny people? Diffuse this blend and change the mood of your co-workers without them knowing! This blend fosters creativity, relieves stress, is uplifting and smells amazing! This is a blend of seven different citrus oils and vanilla: Bergamot, Clementine, Grapefruit, Lemon, Mandarin, Tangerine and Wild Orange.

Serenity (Calming blend): Can’t we all just get along? This blend is great for promoting serene feelings of acceptance, helping reduce criticism, blame and judgement, reduces anxious feelings and resentment towards others. Finally! This blend includes Lavender, Sweet Marjoram, Roman Chamomile, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Ylang Ylang and vanilla.

Passion (Inspiring blend): Feel like you’ve lost your mojo? This blend can help you get it back, and find your inner passion for life, help you love your work, get inspired, clear mental fog, discover clarity of purpose, and encourages openness to new experiences. One of my faves! In this one there is Cardamom, Cinnamon, Clove, Ginger, Sandalwood and Jasmine.

Motivate (Encouraging blend): Are you mentally exhausted and feel like you’re stuck? This is the one for you! This blend helps fight mental fatigue and exhaustion, gives encouragement and confidence, and helps you get things done. This is a blend of Basil, Clementine, Coriander, Melissa, Peppermint and Rosemary.

When using essential oils, quality matters. Essential oils are powerful aromatic compounds that act like messengers throughout your body. dōTERRA Essential Oils can safely be used aromatically by being diffused or inhaled directly from the bottle, topically (some must be diluted with a carrier oil), and most can be used internally, as these pure, therapeutic grade essential oils are basically considered to be food (read the label). When using oils, a drop is a ‘dose’, and less is more, so start with a very small amount. Listen to your body, and I encourage everyone to do their own research. One more super cool thing about these oils: no negative side effects!

There are many other essential oils that are helpful for all different physical and emotional issues, and we’ve just scratched the surface here. But these 10 oils are a great start for busy entrepreneurs who are looking for a more natural way to enhance their every day work experience.

Challenging negative thoughts & limiting beliefs

sprout-in-road

In the interest of being authentic and transparent, here’s what I’ve been dealing with the last few days: I’ve been fighting these crazy negative thoughts that say ‘You’re a fake, you’re a fraud, you don’t know what you’re doing’, all in relation to being a successful builder and team leader with my dōTERRA Essential Oil business.

Do I have it all figured out? No. Am I totally organized and do I have everything dialed in? No, not like I think or feel that ‘I should’… ah, guilt! And with the annual Convention next week in Salt Lake City, there is some anxiety and stress involved with all of that, including packing, flying, and having about 40 team members there, many of them attending for the first time. Talk about upper limiting! (From the book The Big Leap). Any time you are about to break through to a new level of success in your life, your ‘thermostat’ or emotional comfort level, will try to prevent you from moving forward, and it can manifest itself with uncomfortable physical or emotional symptoms.

A couple of days ago I woke up with swollen lymph nodes on the sides of my neck, below my ears… and a rash behind my ears. Bingo!

In the book ‘Feelings Buried Alive Never Die’, under the ‘dis-ease’ listing of Lymph System, one of the feelings associated with the lymphatic system is ‘Negative thoughts against yourself’. Wow! Absolutely true. Once I figured out the emotional reason behind the physical effects, I needed to figure out how I could work through this and get back to normal.

I scanned myself with my Itovi, and started using the oils, of course, but I needed to do the emotional work. I needed to address the negative thoughts, or they would just keep coming back. Yesterday those thoughts hit me again, and instead of believing them, and hoping no one else on my team would figure it out (that I’m really a fake & fraud), I challenged those thoughts. I asked myself: ‘Is that really true? Are you a fake and a fraud? Do you know what you’re doing in this business? Is there any evidence to support these negative thoughts? Once I did this, and really started thinking about it, there was no evidence to support these absurd, fear-based thoughts, and they gradually started subsiding… and I started feeling a little better.

Today the swelling in my lymph nodes has gone down some, and I’ve turned it around on the negative thoughts. I am not a fake or a fraud. This business is real, and I do know what I’m doing, so far anyway, and I trust that I can learn what I need to, when I need to learn it, to continue to be a successful builder and leader, and to support my team the best way I know how.

This is part of the ongoing emotional journey we all are on, and I know it’s a lot of personal info, but it’s my truth, and I own it. I’m grateful for the tools I have to work through this stuff, and I hope this info is helpful to you in some way.

Natural all-day energy!

IMG_1059

Looking for a natural way to have amazing energy all day?

Here’s what I use: Matcha green tea in the morning, with some stevia and coconut milk.

Throughout the day I sip on a big glass of water with 6-8 drops of Slim & Sassy Metabolic Blend by dōTERRA. I also love this blend in iced tea with a little stevia.

The matcha gives you calm alertness, with focused energy. It’s different from coffee, and it’s very soothing. I was a little skeptical about drinking something warm and green in the morning, but now I have this almost every morning… there’s something about matcha, you just need to try it. I’ve tried a few different matcha teas, and these are my top 2:

The Republic Of Tea Matcha Tea Powder, 1.5 Ounce Tea Powder Tin, Gourmet Matcha Green Tea Powder – this one is also available at Whole Foods, for around $18-$19.

If you want an even higher quality organic matcha, I really like: KENKO Matcha Green Tea Powder [USDA Organic] Ceremonial Grade – Japanese 30g [1.06oz], which I’ve only every purchased from Amazon. It’s priced around $28.

Slim & Sassy Metabolic Blend is a proprietary blend from dōTERRA, made from Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade essential oils including grapefruit peel, lemon peel, peppermint, ginger and cinnamon bark. It has a spicy, refreshing flavor, and helps balance your metabolism, helps decrease appetite and curb cravings, especially for carbs.

This blend also supports your digestive system, as lemon and grapefruit have gentle detox and cleansing properties, and peppermint is great for digestive discomfort. In fact, just 1 drop of peppermint oil is equivalent in strength to 28 cups of peppermint tea when used for digestive issues. Ginger has been used for centuries for digestive support, and cinnamon has properties that can help balance blood sugar levels, and oddly enough it tastes naturally sweet.

Feeling overwhelmed? Try some Basil oil

Basil.jpgWhen you’re dealing with stress, and you start feeling overwhelmed, your body is sending you a signal that something is not quite right… and you need to slow down and pay attention to what’s going on inside you. You may have depleted your stores of the natural ‘chemical messengers’ that help you feel calm, grounded and in control. It’s similar to when a car runs out of gas… you ain’t going anywhere until you refill the tank.

The great news is this can be done by changing or incorporating healthier habits, which includes eating mostly organic, plant-based, non-GMO clean food, drinking plenty of clean water, getting sufficient rest (this means doing nothing) and sleep, stress relieving techniques like mediation, deep breathing, exercise, gardening, reading, or whatever you like that takes your mind off of your work, home or other situations that are causing the overwhelming and stressful feelings.

I’ve dealt with this sort of thing for the past few years, and I can say for sure that I’m NOT deficient in any sort of ‘artificial chemicals’ that typical medical practitioners pass out like candy, and I say ‘no thank-you’ to them and the side effects. I took the artificial mood stabilizing pills for years, and it changed my personality when I was under their influence. I’m not going there anymore… I can manage my moods and emotions naturally.

One of the things I love about dōTERRA Essential Oils is that they empower people to take their health into their own hands. No one knows your body better than you do. You have a choice on how you deal with your health, so I suggest you do your research and see if dōTERRA essential oils may be something you can add to your arsenal. They are my first line of defense… just saying. Not all oils are created equal, and these are the best available, anywhere.

Basil is one of my favorite oils for staying calm. Anytime I’m feeling super stressed and overwhelmed, I put a drop or 2 in my palms and rub them over my adrenals. I also inhale the aroma from my hands, which seems to relax me in just a few minutes. Your body knows what to do with plants and plant oils… support yourself naturally.

Emotional Aromatherapy: How to choose the best oil for you!

With dōTERRA’s new Emotional Aromatherapy kit and wheel, it’s easy to find the best oil to help you feel better. My favorite is Motivate, which helps me get to work and get it done! I love the blends, as they are so powerful and easy to use. They all smell great, and I’ve used all of them at different times. At first I didn’t think that I would need all of them, especially Console and Forgive, however, I’ve used ALL of them, and I love ALL of them.

Using these oils is super easy: They can be used aromatically, which means inhaling them directly from the bottle or diffusing with an ultrasonic diffuser. Aromatic use is the fastest way to get the oils into your system.

The other way is topically by applying directly to the skin with dilution, especially for those with sensitive skin. When using oils topically for emotional support, it’s best to start applying near your heart and go up from there. This also makes you a walking ‘diffuser’. Some of my favorite places to apply oils is behind my ears, on temples, and on the back of neck. When using the oils, a drop is a dose, so start with just a drop and you can layer on more if needed.

Emo Aromatherapy Snap

The oils work very quickly, especially aromatically, so you can begin feeling relief in minutes. If you’re new to the oils and would like to try a sample, please contact me. I also have a link to my dōTERRA website on the right sidebar.

Yes I’m blogging about deodorant

IMG_0931I love that dōTERRA’s natural deodorant has none of the bad stuff like aluminum and talc, and I love that it contains all kinds of good stuff like coconut oil, shea butter, cypress, sage, melaleuca, cedarwood, and bergamot essential oils, and that it’s made in the USA.

There are times, though, when I just kinda need a little more strength, especially when it’s really hot outside or I’m working up a big sweat. (Never thought I would be posting about this, but here it is… )

A great way to beef it up is to add a drop of Patchouli oil on top before you apply it (my husband does this, works great), or you can also add a drop of Geranium oil, which is what I do… again, works great and smells better.

Essential oils have strong connections to our feelings and emotions, and can help us do the deep emotional work… so here’s what I love about these two oils, based on information from the book: Emotions & Essential Oils, 4th Edition: A Modern Resource for Healing

Patchouli is the Oil of Physicality, and helps one be fully present in their physical body, and is grounding and calming, and it’s great for body odor.

Geranium is the Oil of Love & Trust, and helps restore love and trust in relationships, especially when there has been a break in trust or a break-up. It also helps with loss, grief and abandonment issues, enabling one to be forgiving, tolerant and open to emotional healing, including loving and trusting others. Also great for body odor.

The only oils I use and recommend are the highest quality available, and can also be used aromatically by being inhaled directly from the bottle or with an ultrasonic diffuser. Contact me for my recommended brand.

The emotional side of the oils is very important to consider, as many physical ailments have emotional roots, and if not addressed will manifest eventually. I will be posting more on emotional work in the future.

On a side note, I also love this mini succulent garden that a team member made for me… what a great idea! Love it! Thanks Rita!

Essential oils for dogs? Yes please!

Lexi at 4 months

This is Lexi, our 4 month old Golden Lab/Border Collie mix, and she came with a raging case of worms… you know, those gross little white things that look like rice when they dry out? Yeah, those.

I did my research and saw that dōTERRA DigestZen oil has several compounds that help with all sorts of digestive things, including ginger and fennel oil, and it’s safe for dogs. I applied 2-3 drops on her tummy and rubbed it in… I did this twice, 2 days apart.

Results? Lots of worms came out, and they were alive – awesome. And now, I’m not seeing any worms in her poo. Worms be gone. This stuff works!

She has a vet appointment on Monday, and I will definitely be bringing samples to the vet. I think it’s super important that we use non-toxic ways to help our pets stay healthy and happy.

When she gets going in ‘crazy puppy mode’, running around and chomping on things, I like to calm her down with a little Cedarwood and Lavender on her baby paws, and I also put a few drops on her bed. She sleeps through the night now too! Heaven for me!

Love this stuff…

Have an amazing day! I know I will… so grateful for my cute little puppy!

Compelling & provocative… Wow!

Learn why essential oils are so valuable and powerful!

Modern science supports what natural health practitioners have known for centuries… and now, essential oils are finally getting the attention they deserve. dōTERRA Essential Oils came into my life for a reason, and I’m so grateful that I know about these amazing ‘gifts of the Earth’.

I first learned about essential oils after my dad had a stroke. He started using Frankincense oil, changed his diet, made other lifestyle changes, and started feeling better. After seeing how powerful the oils were, I decided that I needed to see what else they could do. I was looking for a more natural way to manage my anxious feelings and fear. I found a grounding blend (Balance) and a calming blend (Serenity) that worked great, and now I’ve learned how to use the oils to keep me calm and sane.

Again, so grateful and blessed. If you are new to oils, please watch this movie trailer and catch a glimpse of what the movie is about… I think you’ll like it.
