Self-confidence in a bottle… and no, it’s not wine!

This is one of my favorite oils, and I use it almost daily on my wrists for emotional stability, and it also promotes feelings of self-acceptance and of being ‘good enough’. It helps you to love yourself unconditionally and to let go of self-criticism and judgement.

Like all citrus oils, it has a very uplifting, energizing aroma. Bergamot fights inflammation, sad or depressed feelings, and is anti-bacterial. It’s great for fighting infectious type ailments, helping with oily skin, achy joints and muscles, alleviating stress and occasional sleeplessness, and it’s a super powerful cleanser that works great for creating DIY non-toxic household cleaners. Multi-purpose for sure!

Challenging negative thoughts & limiting beliefs

sprout-in-road

In the interest of being authentic and transparent, here’s what I’ve been dealing with the last few days: I’ve been fighting these crazy negative thoughts that say ‘You’re a fake, you’re a fraud, you don’t know what you’re doing’, all in relation to being a successful builder and team leader with my dōTERRA Essential Oil business.

Do I have it all figured out? No. Am I totally organized and do I have everything dialed in? No, not like I think or feel that ‘I should’… ah, guilt! And with the annual Convention next week in Salt Lake City, there is some anxiety and stress involved with all of that, including packing, flying, and having about 40 team members there, many of them attending for the first time. Talk about upper limiting! (From the book The Big Leap). Any time you are about to break through to a new level of success in your life, your ‘thermostat’ or emotional comfort level, will try to prevent you from moving forward, and it can manifest itself with uncomfortable physical or emotional symptoms.

A couple of days ago I woke up with swollen lymph nodes on the sides of my neck, below my ears… and a rash behind my ears. Bingo!

In the book ‘Feelings Buried Alive Never Die’, under the ‘dis-ease’ listing of Lymph System, one of the feelings associated with the lymphatic system is ‘Negative thoughts against yourself’. Wow! Absolutely true. Once I figured out the emotional reason behind the physical effects, I needed to figure out how I could work through this and get back to normal.

I scanned myself with my Itovi, and started using the oils, of course, but I needed to do the emotional work. I needed to address the negative thoughts, or they would just keep coming back. Yesterday those thoughts hit me again, and instead of believing them, and hoping no one else on my team would figure it out (that I’m really a fake & fraud), I challenged those thoughts. I asked myself: ‘Is that really true? Are you a fake and a fraud? Do you know what you’re doing in this business? Is there any evidence to support these negative thoughts? Once I did this, and really started thinking about it, there was no evidence to support these absurd, fear-based thoughts, and they gradually started subsiding… and I started feeling a little better.

Today the swelling in my lymph nodes has gone down some, and I’ve turned it around on the negative thoughts. I am not a fake or a fraud. This business is real, and I do know what I’m doing, so far anyway, and I trust that I can learn what I need to, when I need to learn it, to continue to be a successful builder and leader, and to support my team the best way I know how.

This is part of the ongoing emotional journey we all are on, and I know it’s a lot of personal info, but it’s my truth, and I own it. I’m grateful for the tools I have to work through this stuff, and I hope this info is helpful to you in some way.

Emotional Aromatherapy: How to choose the best oil for you!

With dōTERRA’s new Emotional Aromatherapy kit and wheel, it’s easy to find the best oil to help you feel better. My favorite is Motivate, which helps me get to work and get it done! I love the blends, as they are so powerful and easy to use. They all smell great, and I’ve used all of them at different times. At first I didn’t think that I would need all of them, especially Console and Forgive, however, I’ve used ALL of them, and I love ALL of them.

Using these oils is super easy: They can be used aromatically, which means inhaling them directly from the bottle or diffusing with an ultrasonic diffuser. Aromatic use is the fastest way to get the oils into your system.

The other way is topically by applying directly to the skin with dilution, especially for those with sensitive skin. When using oils topically for emotional support, it’s best to start applying near your heart and go up from there. This also makes you a walking ‘diffuser’. Some of my favorite places to apply oils is behind my ears, on temples, and on the back of neck. When using the oils, a drop is a dose, so start with just a drop and you can layer on more if needed.

The oils work very quickly, especially aromatically, so you can begin feeling relief in minutes. If you’re new to the oils and would like to try a sample, please contact me. I also have a link to my dōTERRA website on the right sidebar.

Yes I’m blogging about deodorant

IMG_0931I love that dōTERRA’s natural deodorant has none of the bad stuff like aluminum and talc, and I love that it contains all kinds of good stuff like coconut oil, shea butter, cypress, sage, melaleuca, cedarwood, and bergamot essential oils, and that it’s made in the USA.

There are times, though, when I just kinda need a little more strength, especially when it’s really hot outside or I’m working up a big sweat. (Never thought I would be posting about this, but here it is… )

A great way to beef it up is to add a drop of Patchouli oil on top before you apply it (my husband does this, works great), or you can also add a drop of Geranium oil, which is what I do… again, works great and smells better.

Essential oils have strong connections to our feelings and emotions, and can help us do the deep emotional work… so here’s what I love about these two oils, based on information from the book: Emotions & Essential Oils, 4th Edition: A Modern Resource for Healing

Patchouli is the Oil of Physicality, and helps one be fully present in their physical body, and is grounding and calming, and it’s great for body odor.

Geranium is the Oil of Love & Trust, and helps restore love and trust in relationships, especially when there has been a break in trust or a break-up. It also helps with loss, grief and abandonment issues, enabling one to be forgiving, tolerant and open to emotional healing, including loving and trusting others. Also great for body odor.

The only oils I use and recommend are the highest quality available, and can also be used aromatically by being inhaled directly from the bottle or with an ultrasonic diffuser. Contact me for my recommended brand.

The emotional side of the oils is very important to consider, as many physical ailments have emotional roots, and if not addressed will manifest eventually. I will be posting more on emotional work in the future.

On a side note, I also love this mini succulent garden that a team member made for me… what a great idea! Love it! Thanks Rita!

Sometimes it’s both…

Glass Emotional Healing

Physical and emotional… but many times it’s emotional, what’s really at the core of your issue, ailment or problem.

Last week my physical issue was related to those pesky seasonal threats and discomforts that happen in the Spring, or so I thought. Yes, I had the nose thing, stuffed up face, scratchy throat and eyes, and oddly enough, I even had one of those big bumps on my left eyelid that made my eye swollen, red, and it hurt like heck.

In my work with essential oils I use a GSR ‘scanner’ that tells me in about 3 minutes which specific oils would benefit me at that moment. Naturally I expected oils related to respiratory support, however, I was very surprised that none of the typical oils came up related to my physical symptoms, but what came up was a blend called ‘Forgive’. Interesting…

This blend assists in releasing negative feelings and energy associated with attachment, holding on, critical, judgmental, resentment, and bitterness. I started doing research.

I love the book Feelings Buried Alive Never Die by Karol K Truman, and on page 228 under ‘allergies’, one of the probable feelings causing ill-ness it states: ‘Feeling aggravated by someone or something’. Hmm… And under ‘eyes: stys’ this same book states: ‘Unresolved anger towards someone’ and ‘Hanging on to feelings of resentment’. Wow!

Initially I couldn’t really see how that applied to me, it didn’t resonate. But the more I thought about it, I realized I had been having negative feelings of resentment towards several people and situations… in fact, I was upset about something that happened that day. It was starting to make sense.

I spent last Saturday evening reading, praying, meditating and journaling about what it could be, and it started to come to me, all the people and events that made me feel resentful. I chose to release all of the negative feelings and one by one I forgave all of the people I felt were at the source of the resentment. This is not easy to do, especially when you’ve had specific situations stuck in your brain for years, and especially if they relate to family members.

I was also using the Forgive oil on my pulse points, behind my ears, at my temples, and of course inhaling it.

Then an awesome thing happened: I started feeling ‘lighter’, less burdened, different, happyish… I’m not saying that the nose thing stopped running immediately, but I slept really well that night, and over the next few days I felt much better. Not saying that I’m done with the emotional work yet, but I think it’s a small step in the right direction. And that’s a big step for me.

Awareness is key, and I really didn’t realize that I had been mentally complaining about certain people and situations, and I was resentful. Whatever you think about, you attract more of it in your life, so I am really monitoring my thoughts to keep them positive. Again, not easy, but necessary.

I’m not a doctor or a therapist, I’m just sharing my experience, and I hope it is beneficial.

I’m so grateful that I have the tools, oils and insight to figure this out.
