Gratitude is powerful!

Gratitude

The key to enjoying an abundant life is gratitude. If you are not happy with or are not expressing thanks for what you already have, on a daily basis, you will not be ‘open’ to receiving more of the good stuff coming your way. This is something I’ve really been focusing on lately, trying to make it a habit, or part of my daily ritual.

Take the time to write down 5-10 things you’re grateful for each day, preferably in the morning, and it can be as simple as: I love my bed; I love my husband; I’m so grateful for my cute dog; thank you for this amazing cup of coffee… The more things you are grateful for, the more things will come into your life to be grateful for… I love how this works.

Plus, when you reflect a spirit of gratitude, you bring calm and peace into your world, and you radiate that energy, which attracts more amazing things to you. So simple, yet so powerful…

And don’t forget to smile! It seriously changes your mood and your physiology. It’s really hard to be upset when you have a smile on your face… try it and let me know how it works for you!

Challenging negative thoughts & limiting beliefs

sprout-in-road

In the interest of being authentic and transparent, here’s what I’ve been dealing with the last few days: I’ve been fighting these crazy negative thoughts that say ‘You’re a fake, you’re a fraud, you don’t know what you’re doing’, all in relation to being a successful builder and team leader with my dōTERRA Essential Oil business.

Do I have it all figured out? No. Am I totally organized and do I have everything dialed in? No, not like I think or feel that ‘I should’… ah, guilt! And with the annual Convention next week in Salt Lake City, there is some anxiety and stress involved with all of that, including packing, flying, and having about 40 team members there, many of them attending for the first time. Talk about upper limiting! (From the book The Big Leap). Any time you are about to break through to a new level of success in your life, your ‘thermostat’ or emotional comfort level, will try to prevent you from moving forward, and it can manifest itself with uncomfortable physical or emotional symptoms.

A couple of days ago I woke up with swollen lymph nodes on the sides of my neck, below my ears… and a rash behind my ears. Bingo!

In the book ‘Feelings Buried Alive Never Die’, under the ‘dis-ease’ listing of Lymph System, one of the feelings associated with the lymphatic system is ‘Negative thoughts against yourself’. Wow! Absolutely true. Once I figured out the emotional reason behind the physical effects, I needed to figure out how I could work through this and get back to normal.

I scanned myself with my Itovi, and started using the oils, of course, but I needed to do the emotional work. I needed to address the negative thoughts, or they would just keep coming back. Yesterday those thoughts hit me again, and instead of believing them, and hoping no one else on my team would figure it out (that I’m really a fake & fraud), I challenged those thoughts. I asked myself: ‘Is that really true? Are you a fake and a fraud? Do you know what you’re doing in this business? Is there any evidence to support these negative thoughts? Once I did this, and really started thinking about it, there was no evidence to support these absurd, fear-based thoughts, and they gradually started subsiding… and I started feeling a little better.

Today the swelling in my lymph nodes has gone down some, and I’ve turned it around on the negative thoughts. I am not a fake or a fraud. This business is real, and I do know what I’m doing, so far anyway, and I trust that I can learn what I need to, when I need to learn it, to continue to be a successful builder and leader, and to support my team the best way I know how.

This is part of the ongoing emotional journey we all are on, and I know it’s a lot of personal info, but it’s my truth, and I own it. I’m grateful for the tools I have to work through this stuff, and I hope this info is helpful to you in some way.

Feeling overwhelmed? Try some Basil oil

Basil.jpgWhen you’re dealing with stress, and you start feeling overwhelmed, your body is sending you a signal that something is not quite right… and you need to slow down and pay attention to what’s going on inside you. You may have depleted your stores of the natural ‘chemical messengers’ that help you feel calm, grounded and in control. It’s similar to when a car runs out of gas… you ain’t going anywhere until you refill the tank.

The great news is this can be done by changing or incorporating healthier habits, which includes eating mostly organic, plant-based, non-GMO clean food, drinking plenty of clean water, getting sufficient rest (this means doing nothing) and sleep, stress relieving techniques like mediation, deep breathing, exercise, gardening, reading, or whatever you like that takes your mind off of your work, home or other situations that are causing the overwhelming and stressful feelings.

I’ve dealt with this sort of thing for the past few years, and I can say for sure that I’m NOT deficient in any sort of ‘artificial chemicals’ that typical medical practitioners pass out like candy, and I say ‘no thank-you’ to them and the side effects. I took the artificial mood stabilizing pills for years, and it changed my personality when I was under their influence. I’m not going there anymore… I can manage my moods and emotions naturally.

One of the things I love about dōTERRA Essential Oils is that they empower people to take their health into their own hands. No one knows your body better than you do. You have a choice on how you deal with your health, so I suggest you do your research and see if dōTERRA essential oils may be something you can add to your arsenal. They are my first line of defense… just saying. Not all oils are created equal, and these are the best available, anywhere.

Basil is one of my favorite oils for staying calm. Anytime I’m feeling super stressed and overwhelmed, I put a drop or 2 in my palms and rub them over my adrenals. I also inhale the aroma from my hands, which seems to relax me in just a few minutes. Your body knows what to do with plants and plant oils… support yourself naturally.

Emotional Aromatherapy: How to choose the best oil for you!

With dōTERRA’s new Emotional Aromatherapy kit and wheel, it’s easy to find the best oil to help you feel better. My favorite is Motivate, which helps me get to work and get it done! I love the blends, as they are so powerful and easy to use. They all smell great, and I’ve used all of them at different times. At first I didn’t think that I would need all of them, especially Console and Forgive, however, I’ve used ALL of them, and I love ALL of them.

Using these oils is super easy: They can be used aromatically, which means inhaling them directly from the bottle or diffusing with an ultrasonic diffuser. Aromatic use is the fastest way to get the oils into your system.

The other way is topically by applying directly to the skin with dilution, especially for those with sensitive skin. When using oils topically for emotional support, it’s best to start applying near your heart and go up from there. This also makes you a walking ‘diffuser’. Some of my favorite places to apply oils is behind my ears, on temples, and on the back of neck. When using the oils, a drop is a dose, so start with just a drop and you can layer on more if needed.

The oils work very quickly, especially aromatically, so you can begin feeling relief in minutes. If you’re new to the oils and would like to try a sample, please contact me. I also have a link to my dōTERRA website on the right sidebar.

Authenticity & Vulnerability: Going Deep

There’s something scary about being real, being honest and open… just being yourself, but it’s a huge key to your success. People will respond to you when they relate to you and feel a connection. This is called being Authentic: it’s living and being your true self. And it involves being vulnerable and showing that you’re not perfect… scary indeed.

I’m re-reading this book: The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You’re Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are by Dr Brené Brown, and now I get it. When we stop worrying so much about how we ‘appear’ to others, what they think of us for working in an MLM or whatever business we choose, when we get over how we are ‘supposed’ to look, live and act to be accepted, and when we stop operating from a shame based paradigm, we can break through scarcity and be open to abundance, gratitude and amazing success. (I didn’t know I was operating on a shame based paradigm, and this info is so powerful… I hope you’re open to it.)

Here’s a few examples of the chapters in this book:

* Cultivating Authenticity: Letting Go of What People Think
* Cultivating Self-Compassion: Letting Go of Perfectionism
* Cultivating Meaningful Work: Letting Go of Self-Doubt and ‘Supposed To’

This is a process, and I’m working on it… it’s going to take a while. That’s OK.

Be patient with yourself. Just being aware of our ingrained, limiting, false beliefs and societal expectations that were put on us by people living mediocre lives, who aren’t willing to be open to learning about improving themselves, is a huge step in the right direction. Choose to be open, curious and ‘different’, or you could end up like them, like pretty much everyone else going through the motions and hating every minute of it.

Awareness is the first step, and if you’re open to digging deep and peeling back the layers, you will find your true self. Much of this information you’ve probably never even thought about before, so again, be patient with yourself, and trust the process.

Throw off the baggage and start living your true authentic life. That’s a big statement and something most would agree they would like to do, but where do we start? I have to admit that I’ve been thinking about for this topic for the last few months, not really sure what to do with it, but now I feel like I have a direction of sorts.

Is this something that resonates with you? Are you struggling with this? I would love to hear your comments… thanks!
